Connor McGinn Studios

creates handmade, custom, ceramic dinnerware for the table. Whether it be for a Michelin star restaurant or your dining room table, each piece is lovingly crafted out either high fire stoneware or porcelain and glazed with completely food safe non toxic glazed made in house. Having a background in the kitchens of fine dining farm-to-table restaurants, the importance of community and food have a huge impact on my work and are at times the driving force behind it. Just as the relationships within a restaurant are vital to the Chef’s final dish, I believe that a collaboration with the Chef, the cooks, the dining staff, and the diners themselves is an integral part of my process and has a great influence on my work.

BAT FLOWER PRESS

is a continuation of artist Natalia Woodward’s long history as a printmaker. As an artist & art handler, having worked with high end art collectors and organizations such as NY’s MoMA, Natalia has spent her career around precious artwork. Bat Flower Press is about breaking down barriers of preciousness, collaborating with others, and making art approachable to everyone. As a traditional printmaker, letterpress is a new avenue for Natalia to bring her drawings to life through her love for printing.

Hailing from Pereira, Colombia Natalia grew up in a community rich with art, of entrepreneurship and making. “My friends and I didn’t have any video games or cell phones growing up. Creating art was always a foundation for my community. Handmade is way of LIFE for many families where I’m from, and its always stuck with me.” And then there’s Gretta. Her journey to founding Bat Flower Press started much longer ago. Born in 1903 by parents Chandler & Price, Gretta is a lean (well, not so much), mean, printmaking machine!

Like the rest of us here at Makers Central, Natalia has spent over a decade working in hospitality, and she is excited to apply her quirky and unique designs to print stationary, wedding invitations and menus for her favorite restaurants.

C-Los Carpentry.JPG

C-Los carpentry

a woodworking team led by Carlos Chimborazo and aided by his partner, Elena Krougliak, creates beautiful and functional pieces for restaurants or for the home. Each piece is lovingly and carefully made, highlighting the natural patterns found in the wood grain. Carlos draws on his vast experience working in a carpentry shop starting from the young age of twelve, and continuing working on his craft even while working in a fine dining farm-to-table restaurant. Both having a long background working in hospitality and restaurants, Carlos and Elena wanted to continue being able to be involved with food, dining, and that incomparable experience of building relationships and sharing conversation over a meal. So it seemed only natural that they would use locally sourced wood to create one-of-a-kind handmade pieces for the dinner table. Whether focusing on creating items for the home, or fulfilling larger orders for a restaurant, they are always challenging themselves to produce quality-made pieces that last. In addition to creating bowls, platters, and cutting boards, they also design and create larger-scale pieces ranging from built-ins to custom furniture.

Dan Sabia
Wood fire food

The concept behind Wood Fire Food is simple, to be able to tell a story through the process of doing what you love. What started off as an escape from the everyday grind turned into another way to manipulate raw material into something beautiful. Westchester born and raised, my entire childhood was based off the simple concept of work hard for what you want and try to create and make whatever you can. I love being able to take material and create something beautiful with it. Connecting a story to a product is the best feeling, being able to take salvaged wood form someone’s past and transform it into a product for someone’s future is all the inspiration I need at times. I have found the perfect balance of cooking and creating with this business between cooking over open fires, and making one of kind products through the same materials I cook over, the possibilities are endless

Pivot Concrete

We are David and Deion, crafting handmade concrete pieces in Tarrytown, New York. Concrete is all around us, from high-rise buildings above us to the sidewalks beneath our feet. However, we want to translate that rough and industrial medium into a more approachable, tactile, and inviting aesthetic.

Coming from the world of hospitality, our aim is to bring that hospitality and warmth to the home. Each piece is hand-mixed, poured, and finished, with each piece being unique from the next, yet having an undercurrent of consistency. Our work is also shaped by our experiences in the food world. Diverting products from the waste stream, environmental impact, and meticulous detail on the final product, all resonate within each piece brought forward.

We are excited to embark on this adventure in the Hudson Valley, and are even more excited to share it with you.

Duncan’s Abbey

We brew old-world craft beer in an 1890's building nestled between the mighty Hudson River and the charming Main Street of Tarrytown, NY. Our traditional recipes include local New York State ingredients that respect historic beer influences. We follow centuries-old traditions: measuring ingredients by hand, growing hops in the village, and stirring the wort with a giant spoon.

Our beers are made to match the seasons: light, citrus flavors in the warmer months and dark, fruity flavors in the colder months. We focus on Tripels, Quadrupels, and sour ales - producing one barrel at a time and carefully aging it until it's ready for tapping.

It's our sincere hope that Duncan's Abbey brings strangers together to share food, drink, and stories - and that those strangers quickly become friends. Proost!
