What is a “Crawl”?

The Westchester Craft Crawl is inspired by the traditional ceramic studio tour, where visitors explore various locations, referred to as "tour stops," to shop from multiple artists hosted at each site. This welcoming experience often takes you into an artist's home or personal studio space. Each tour stop on the Crawl features between 8 to 15 artists, located at either a private residence or an arts-supporting business. Not only does our event offer a "choose your own adventure" day filled with high-quality crafts and engaging conversations, but it also provides a delightful tour of lesser-known parts of Westchester.

As you journey through the event, local businesses in each town act as "tour sponsors," enhancing your experience. These include food and drink venues, shops, and galleries, offering additional opportunities to explore and enjoy the towns you visit.

FAQs

Where do I start the Crawl?

Anywhere! There is no set order to the tour stops, you can start at any one you’d like and go in the order that makes most sense for you.

What if I can’t go to every stop?

That’s 100% OK. The Craft Crawl is intended to be a “choose your own adventure” event, meaning you can go to as many or as few tour stops as you’d like!

I’d like to visit ever stop, but what if I can’t manage them all in one day?

Don’t worry, it’s a two-day event! If you'd like to visit every stop but find it challenging to do so in one day, remember there's always tomorrow. Arrange your visit(s) as you wish, whether you plan to explore each stop consecutively or take time to unwind at one of our tour sponsor locations.

Do you have a map?

We maintain an updated Google Map for each Craft Crawl event, accessible on the event's information page. Additionally, addresses for every tour stop and sponsor are listed both online and on our printed postcards. These postcards are available before the event at local businesses and at each tour stop during the event.

Are there public bathrooms at the tour stops?

Unfortunately the bathrooms at each tour stop are not open to the public. However, there is always a tour sponsor nearby with a public bathroom. Feel free to ask a participating artist or the tour stop host for more information.

Is the event accessible for those with mobility issues?

We strive to make each tour stop as accessible as possible, paying attention to even ground, stairs, parking, and other factors. However, the tour naturally involves some walking or travel. Most of our tour stops are accessible, with terrain varying from flat grass to sidewalks and asphalt. We welcome visitors with various mobility levels but advise caution both at the tour stops and while traveling between them.

Look through our photo gallery below, it can help you get a better sense of what you can expect from the event.

Will there be easy parking?

Each tour stop is a little different–but yes! Some tour stops are residential and will have plentiful street parking. For commercial tour stops (such as the Croton Stop) there is easy street parking nearby and well-maintained public sidewalks.
